Project description
Data Central translates data using a L.E.D. window display. Interpreting the information, the L.E.D.'s change colors, and change patterns. Data Central has displayed various animations including weather data animations, and DNA related animations.
Project Highlights
Real-time Weather Data LED Animation
- Designed LED animations based on real-time weather data for Albuquerque using Processing.
- Utilized Processing’s sketchbook to load and parse XML data from the Weather Underground API.
- Visualized key weather metrics such as temperature, wind speed, humidity, rainfall, and snow depth.
- Created an animation that represents the vast differences in gene expression over a lifetime.
- Each LED grouping visualizes the expression of a single gene in a specific region of the human brain.
- Color variations depict the level of gene expression across different life stages, from prenatal development to adulthood.
- Delivered a visually engaging and scientifically informative LED display on the exterior of the Center for Advanced Research Computing at the University of New Mexico.
- Combined art and science to create a public visualization that educates viewers on both weather patterns and genetic expression.
